Which bunny is for you depends on a number of factors, including the size of your space, who will be interacting with the bunny, how they will be interacting, and how much.
Here are some quick tips:
- The average bunny has a life span around 8 years. If you don't want to commit to a bunny for that long, but you still want a bunny, a rescue bunny might be a good fit.
- Mini Lops: Despite the name, the mini lop is actually larger than the holland lop. If you're looking for a small, friendly lop, consider a holland lop!
- Lionheads are a great kid friendly choice - it's why we (LionheadRex) chose them in the first place!
- Bunny personalities can vary greatly depending on the environment they grew up in, and how they are subsequently treated. A friendly bunny can quickly turn unfriendly if treated in a way bunny doesn't like. Never leave bunny alone or unsupervised with a young child or another animal.
- Litter box training sometimes takes awhile to "stick" when bunny is moved to their new environment.
- Dwarf bunnies are often skittish
- Flemish giants are often laid back (but can be as big as a dog!)
- Angoras need a lot of brushing or grooming
- Pure rexes feel like velvet
- You don't need a pedigree unless you're going to be showing or breeding
